Welcome to Art Process

A humble attempt to capture and share the little gifts that come along with having a go and stepping in.

Hi and Welcome to Art Process

I love learning through experience, having a go and trying something new but I often forget how much is going on over so many different levels with each experience.

In this section of the blog, art process, I humbly attempt to put into words the little gifts and gems I’ve learned by having a go.

Insights and Reflections

You may want to look at my insightful artist series where I share a more personal element to my art journey (and life journey) with you in this quick and easy to watch video series.

Making Art as a Process

In my attempt to learn about my own art process and what that means, I record myself creating artworks. It’s a great tool for breaking down the process and seeing what I’m doing. I share them with you and my own experiences in varying depths.

Here is a short version (under 2 minutes) of a recording of the creating of a colourful red and green set of three artworks using left over paints from a workshop, texture paste, acrylic paints both flow and heavy bodied, cardboard, squeegee and rollers.

Warm Up Your Creativity

As a workshop and art class facilitator and as part of my own process, I love to start with a fun warm up exercise that helps to get the thinker out of the way and engage the heart.

Take a look at this Australian grass tree I sketched with charcoals – upside down as fast as I could. The video short is sped up but the tree took 44 seconds to create. Using time constraints and staring from different angles can really help disrupt our ideas about the end product and help us get back to feeling it!
